Pryde's Pty Ltd was the first company in the Southern Hemisphere to manufacture a range of extruded pressure-cooked cereal grain based feeds for horses.

 

Pryde's are strategically located at Gunnedah, a country town in the heart of the grain producing area of New South Wales, Australia, providing access to a wide variety of high quality grains and other ingredients to manufacture their horse feeds.

 

• Peter Pryde, who founded Pryde's in 1986, realised the benefits of extruded feeds when studying and training as a food technologist. He was convinced that cooking the starch and protein in grains would allow a much more efficient digestion process in the small intestine of the horse, overcoming many of the digestive and behavioural problems associated with feeding grain to horses.
• In 1988 Peter and Sharon Pryde were joined by Peter and Sue Scott. This unique production team commenced research and development of extruded feeds, in what was to quickly become a world first. The first product was a cooked soyabean granule, which was soon followed by cooked corn and barley based extruded feeds.
• In 1992, using a new specialised sweet feed blending facility, Pryde's developed the EasiFeed™ concept, which as its name implies, made feeding easy and convenient by using cooked grains, protein sources and molasses in a feed mix. One of these products, Pryde's EasiResult™, has become one of the most popular extruded sweet feeds in Australia.
• In 1995 the success of Pryde's EasiFeed™ range was extended to include a full range of feeds for weanlings, yearlings, racing and sport horses. These feeds appear in both full feed and concentrate forms.
• In 1997 the addition of another extruder saw Pryde's expand the EasiFeed™ range to include Bio Mare Cubes™, a fully extruded feed, which contains trace-minerals in protein Bioplex® form to improve the availability and utilisation of the key trace-minerals essential for fertility and optimum bone and limb development in unborn foals.
• In 1999 Pryde's released the Pak range (Power Pak™, Energy Pak™, Gro Pak™, and Protein Pak™) which provided the owner with extruded components for precise feeding to certain individual horse needs.
• In 2001 Pryde's released new bag designs to coincide with product name changes to EasiFeed One, Two, Three and Four.
• In 2003 Pryde's released the EasiFeed 150, 200, 250 and 300 Pellet range. This provided the owner with a concentrated trace-mineral and vitamin pellet to handle all Australian pasture conditions.
• In 2004 a new pellet press and boiler facility was installed, dedicated to equine feeds only. This expansion was necessary to meet the demands of Pryde's growing domestic and export markets.
• In 2005 four additional specialised pelleted products were added to the existing Pellet range: EasiRide™, EasiBreed™, EasiSport™ and ReBuild™. Once again extruded soyabeans, lupins and faba beans play a huge role in the quality of these trade mark products.
• In 2005 a new automatic packaging facility was installed in the sweet feed plant to increase production capacity and improve handling.
• In 2006 a new extruder with increased capacity will be commissioned to coincide with the release of EasiResponse™, a fully extruded sport and pleasure feed fortified with Vitamin E and Thiamine.

 

Today Pryde's operate under the Stockfeed Manufacturers Council guidelines and have adopted the FeedSafe™ Quality Assurance Program, which guarantees a clean fresh product every time it is manufactured.

 

Customer service remains the highest of priorities combined with the supply of quality nutrition products. Pryde's manufacture, pack and dispatch products to order which helps ensure each batch of feed is freshly made when leaving the facility.

 

Pryde's have an active product development program with a number of innovative new feeds in the pipeline that will meet the nutritional needs of a wide range of horses.

 

Pryde's also utilise the feed analysis program Equi-Balance™, to assist horse owners and breeders in formulating balanced and complete feeds for all types of horses.
