Who knew you could fit so much into one month!!!
March Report 09
Following on from Masters and SIEAC the competitions just kept coming plus riding the young horses. This is a brief report on the month as it was full of activity
March~ Just starting out with J.Zoltin and J. Approval
These 2 youngsters now have new owners and heading for show jumping careers. J. Zoltin is by HP Lonzo and J. Approval is by J.Vintage Jet.
March~ Barry Hillier PC ODE
The very popular and well known Barry Hillier ODE had a new venue this year. Traditionally the event was conducted on the property of the Crawshaw family, however, this year the location was the AWEC. As the event was conducted the week following the EFA HT the PC's were lucky to benefit from the efforts of the Horse Trials committee to have the XC course in excellent order.
2nd Open Grade 2 Jirrima Yabba Dabba Doo
3rd Open grade 2 Jirrima Yorkshire
5th Open Grade 3 Jirrima YoubetheJudge
March~ Albury Day Surgery HT
1st ~Preliminary~ Jirrima Yabba Dabba Doo
7th ~1* ~ Jirrima Variety Show
9th ~Introductory ~ Jirrima YoubetheJudge
10th~ Preliminary ~ Jirrima Yorkshire
It has been sometime since AWEC conducted its Horse Trials. Having visited the venue in early march and I did wonder how they were ever going to get it in order to hold the HT's. However, the grounds looked a picture and extensive work had been done on the XC course including rotovating the tracks, hours of picking up sticks and Mike Creber had redesigned a number of the jumps (then built by Craig Gordan) at the water and most classes had new questions being asked which is always exciting. Big thank you to all the local businesses who sponsored the event and individual classes. Also a thank you to the BDSJC who conducted the SJ for all classes.
March ~ Tonimbuk HT
Congratulations to Jirrima Royal Command and Lucy Kolomanski who won their Pre-Novice section at the recent Tonimbuk Horse Trials. Lucy lead from start to finish after an impressive dressage test.
March ~ Wandin Horse Trials
Wandin Park was given a make over for their autumn competition this year and the complex looked a picture. Very eyecatching were the new dressage arenas, $25,000 worth!! There has also be alot of work put into repairs and the up-grading of both little wandin and the main course. This is an amazing effort by the small committee.
All three horses had a good weekend doing good dressages and finishing on their scores bar an odd time fault for going a little quick. Youbethe Judge had his first Intro start and this time he understood that the water jump is to "wash his dusty socks" and so he went in happily. Both Yorkshire and Yabba Dabba Doo went Prelim and handled the course well indicating they are ready to start in the next grade soon.
It was also good to see another "Jirrima" horse out, Jirrima Royal Command in the Pre-Novice class also in the same class was Hunter Doughty his 5yo Jirrima Vintage Jet daughter, Jet Set Diva. Both were in the placings but not sure of final results yet.

March~ Shepparton Autumn Show
The NVSJC committee conducted its Autumn show over two days and the grounds looked a picture. The weather was typical victorian, with thunderstorms and beautiful sunshine only minutes apart. Nobody complained though and strappers got very efficient at changing rugs throughout the day.
A very busy weekend with 7 competition horses and one for the exercise. Jirrima Zamiro was having his first competition after being broken in this summer, so there were lots of firsts for him and you would never have known apart from the gallant trot around his first SJ course(clear). On the second day he managed to canter the course. Stars had to be Xpert and YoubetheJudge, Xpert was having her 2nd start and she is proving to be a great pony for the jump-off's. She is quick and very honest on the angles and short approaches, she came home with the most ribbons out of all the horses. YoubetheJudge had to play second fiddle to Xpert almost always just behind her.
