Linda updates us on her busy show season
Hi Peter and Gang
I have just completed my local show run which was cut short by our lovely inclement weather. Unfortunately our Northern NSW Hack Championships had to be postponed due to flooding and Bellingen Show had to be cancelled. I was originally going to start the run with Kempsey show at the end of April my horse has had a really bad viral infection (cold). The vet gave her a double dose of antibiotics the week prior in hope that it would help clear it up so she could get through the next couple of weeks. As she still wasn’t quite right I decided to give Kempsey a miss in order to give her a couple more days to recover before we started.
My first show was Maclean with the leds and ridden breeds on the first day and the Galloway Hacks on the second. On the first day she was Reserve Champion Led TB & ANSA & was Reserve Champion Ridden ASH. The second day was spoiled by rain and I nearly wasn’t going to compete but at the last minute I changed my mind as the rain decided to stop just prior to the judging of the Galloways. She won her Galloway class and went Champion Galloway. Unfortunately we missed out on Supreme but she worked really well.
Next show was Grafton where she won her led Galloway class on the first day and then won all her ridden Galloway classes and Champion Galloway on the second day. Due to her getting very sore on the very hard ground I couldn’t start her in the Supreme.
Our last show was Coffs Harbour but I only went down for the ridden hack classes. She won her Galloway class and was Champion Galloway. I was also Champion Adult Rider and we were awarded the Supreme Hack of the show.
I have entered her for Brisbane Royal in August but we will just have to wait and see what happens between now and then. A new date for the Hack Championships is also still to be finalised.
