Sponsored Rider Report: Tegan Kidner

Wednesday 3 June 2009

Update from Tegan on a very busy few months.

Results: My last email explained that I was chosen to ride for Queensland in a team to go to New Zealand in April 09. I competed at Lake Tepau on the weekend April 3-5 and was away 7 days. Our team onsisted of 4 members of Equestrian Qld, Chloe Hughts, Gemma Creighton, Ben Bell and myself. We competed on horses lent to us by the New Zealanders nd rode a different horse each day of competition, endng results were we tied first with their most competitive team which had come to Australia to compete in Sydney in the Youth Olympics and won, so we were pleased with our results and had a great time.

I was home for a few days to catch up at school and then travelled out to Blackall over easter to central highlands to compete in the PCAQ State Championships, there was two phases of competition over 4 days. I first rode in my age group 15-17 years in the state equitation and receivd the silver medal which was pleasing as I rode a horse that I am training that hasn't competed in that type of jumping before. Equitation is scored on neatness of horse technique and riders position and technique with two judges scoring in each ring over 4 phases of courses. Then I competed on my A/B Grade horses, Ace Venura in the showjumping over 2 days. I won the Gold Medal as well as the highest points in total over the two days of competition and was selected for the state PCAQ team. The fences were very high and I was very happy with my results. I arrived home on 19th April to get stuck into my school work. Our club, the  North Qld Showjumping Clun is holding its first indor arena competition this Saturday night and I will be attending to jump for the first time in an enclosed arena and I am looking forward to it. I have had a few write ups in the Cairns Post which I passed on to Rod, and will keep you up to date.
