Sponsored Rider's Report: Laurie Lever

Laurie's January!

New Year’s at Mt Gambier was quite and uneventful, Magenta Hornsey (one of our team members) had a promising show on her new ride La Laina, being picked for the Victorian Junior Team, jumping double clear and helping the team win the test. She then ran 3rd in the Junior championships, so well done.

The following weekend we competed at the Warnambool Racecourse and my young horses jumped fine with clear rounds and some minor placings, getting miles on the clock and experience.  It was a warm trip home and we were glad to get there.

The 16th & 17th Phillip jumped Drossel Dan at a German National Show at Verdun and ran 4th in the Grand Prix.  On the 22nd, 23rd & 24th they jumped at Leipzig and stayed clear all show.  They were 2nd to go in the jump off for the World Cup Qualifier and ran 8th out of 65, I was very proud of them. It was Phillip’s 2nd International Show and he said the biggest course he has ever jumped, especially indoors.

Dan is now having a month away from shows as he has had a mild chest infection and has been put on antibiotics to clear it up.  Phillip’s plan is to take him and start the outdoor season at Arezzo.

The same weekend, on a much lower key, I took my 3 horses Chancellor, Cinabar & Highland to Tonimbuk. They jumped really well, all placing in the main classes with Chancellor winning his first 1.30m class.

And that was January!
