NewsSponsored Riders' Report: John Twomey & Caroline HooperMonday 1 March 2010 The Autumn Season is underway at last!
Well we are underway at last with the Autumn season, YAY! We have been busy doing clinics in both the North and South Is with new clinics starting at Woodhill Sands Equestrian Centre north of Auckland.
The boys had their first run at Hunua on the weekend of the 20th. The 4 y/o Escada was 5th in the Young Event Horse. Flaunt It won the dressage with a score of 79%!!!, and HR was 3rd on 73%. Both did amazing tests for this early in the season and both jumped double clears, but we are just cantering around at this stage so the time faults on the cross country dropped us well down.
Just got home from BOP Riverdale where we had less than a joyous time. Escada had a good run with some time for 9th. Poor old Flaunt It’s foot blew up with a bad nail on Friday night and spent the weekend in his yard with a poultice on but it will come right in a few days. HR did a great test in the Advanced / Intermediate but in the SJ there was an upright made out of a large rainbow and he just didn’t seem to see it properly and cantered right through it which gave him a terrible fright so we retired. We still ran him on the cross country yesterday as he needed the run and he jumped a nice clear round. His confidence has been shaken since we crashed at Auckland 3 day in December last year so just want to build that back up so we are ready for a blinder at the Nationals in May. The next 3 months are very busy and I love the competitions, so bring it on I say! |
