NewsSponsored Rider's Report: Hanley ParkSunday 7 March 2010 Update for February 2010
The month of February was busy for our stallions, considering the lateness of the breeding season. Both Owendale Break O Day and Langtree Parissienne had collections for mares in both Qld & NT.
With our two of the Hanley Park bred foals at 5 months we will be looking to wean this month, then the other three foals we will wean at the beginning of April.
The beginning of February is the usual start to the show season for us and our ponies. This year however, our first show of the year was in a judging capacity instead of a showing capacity. The Logan Village Hack Day was a great experience for the pair of us.
We had our first Ag Show for 2010 in February, with Cooyar Ag Show on February 20. We only took two to the show, Hanley Park Memphis, and for her first show, Hanley Park De JaVu.
Hanley Park Memphis did very well in high quality classes: 2nd Led Thoroughbred 3rd Novice Small Hack 3rd Open Small Hack
Hanley Park De JaVu: 1st Riding Pony Filly under 3 yrs 1st Pony Filly Under 3 years
Peter also led out a Riding Pony Stallion for some friends, and he won: 1st & Champion Riding Pony Stallion 1st Pony Stallion Champion Led Pony of Cooyar Agricultural Show
We were also asked to judge at Bell Ag Show, however due to an ill horse, only Peter could judge on 27 February and he had a very long day judging 41 classes.
Even though the weather has not been a help with the preparation of our show team, we are building towards a strong show season again. Culminating with the Qld All Welsh Show on March 19/20 having three representatives, and then off to the big one, Grand National 2010 on March 26 with Hanley Park Practical Magic an extremely good chance in the Show Hunter Galloway class. |
