April heralded the commencement of the ACA competition year
Pete chose Ridgelands as the venue for his first campdraft of the season. What a great start it turned out to be with a 1st, 2nd and 5th in the Restricted Open Draft, and a 1st and 2nd in the Open Draft. He was also among the place-getters of the Maiden and Novice Drafts.
Pete competed at Clarke Creek the next week earning a 1st, 2nd and 5th in the Open Draft, and 1st, 2nd, 5th and 6th in the Novice Draft, with places in the Restricted Open Draft also.
Tamworth was the next venue for competition in the Q10 events. Pete was captain of the Quarter Horse team in the Stock Horse vs Quarter Horse competition. This competition was enjoyed by spectators as well as riders. Pete also gained an equal 2nd in the Restricted Open’ and places in the Open and Novice Drafts.
The final week-end of the month was contested at the ACA National Finals, held in Blackall this year. Pete was awarded his 16th Champion Open Rider Buckle. His horse Deep Creek Response took out the Open Horse Award and Pete also collected ribbons for two other horses in the Open Horse Competition, and two horses in the Novice Horse competition. Pete also earned a place in the Open Draft at the competition.
During the trip to NSW for the Q10 competition, as well as competing Pete managed to fit in three Horsemanship/Campdrafting Clinics, one in particular being presented for children.
