NewsSponsored Riders' Report: Caitlin & Eliza CullenSunday 30 May 2010 Update from the Cullen Sisters and Millewa Lodge – June 2010
We are well into our Show Season for 2010, and are busier than ever. Not only have we been showing all over the countryside, we have been competing in Dressage, Showjumping and Interschool as well.
February saw the team off to Canberra Royal, then to SHCA Grand Nationals at the End of March, into Toowoomba Royal in mid April, and we just arrived back from SHC Northern NSW Hack Championships in Lismore. All of the Show horses have competed well so far this year with some pleasing results. We are off to Mackay at the start of July for North Qld Hack Championships then to EQ HOTY at the end of July.
Both Caitlin and Eliza have been training hard at Dressage under the guidance of Emma Flavelle. Caitlin is competing Medium and has had some good results in both the Interschool competition and the EQ competitions. Eliza has started competing Novice this year and is doing very well. Both girls will compete for the first time at the National Young Rider Dressage Championships at Toowoomba at the end of June, then onto the IEQ State Championships at Warwick in July. On the Showjumping front, we have done a couple of IEQ Showjumping days with some success and are looking forward to our scheduled training days with George Sanna on a monthly basis.
We are busy preparing for our foaling season and planning our breeding season for this year. We have seven Thoroughbred, one Warmblood and five Showhorse broodmares on our books now and we are looking forward to a busy breeding season with them. We are expecting foals in 2010 by Dylan Thomas, Fast Net Rock and Real Saga. In March this year, we completed our first cycle in our breeding program selling two of the foals we have bred here at Millewa Lodge. We are looking forward to many more sales of our youngstock in the future.
Our Warmblood youngstock from our Showjumping mare ‘Cheezy Z’ are growing at a rapid rate. Both are fillies, one by Dobels Cento, the other by Vivant. We can’t wait to see what they can do. We were not able to breed from Cheezy last year, so no foals due this year from her, but are looking forward to breeding from her towards the end of this season again.
Like I said, busy, busy, busy…..we are just glad our team of horses are supported by Pryde’s EasiFeed to keep them performing at this level. If only Pryde’s made a human version of their feeds for the parents……..
Until next time
Kind regards ‘Team Millewa’ |
