April 2009- Competing- well TRYING!!!
This month was a tad frustrating for me... I had entered two competitions- both of which were rained out and cancelled. Very very very annoying.
Added to the wet, our place had 8 inches of rain over night during easter- causing a huge wall of water to come down the creek, taking out one yard, and another fence. Luckily for me, all the horses were fine- they were on high ground. So most of April saw me on flood clean up.
Good news though, is Cody came back into work... he lost alot of muscle tone with the illness, but is now happily munching his way through his EasiResponse, and Gro Pak, and his work is coming along nicely- so shouldn't be too long before he is back on track! I have got a full program of work sorted out for him to help him recoup- along with a rising plane of nutrition to give him the best chance to get on line and back to full fitness. Thank god for good feed is all I can say. At no time during his recovery did he turn his nose up at his feed... Plan is to have him ready for Toowoomba ** at the end of May. That is an 8 week program to get him ready, so will see how we go.
Meanwhile, Morriarty (Friesian WB by Dirk, out of Andalusian mare), is coming along beautifully. I plan on taking him out in May, to an associate competition, then register him EA and off we go official. This makes 3 competition horses this year, so I am pretty busy!
Galanthus is wonderful! He is consolidating his changes, preparing for a medium outing. I am entering him in 2 comps in May at Elem to find his feet, Nambour and Toowoomba. I am very very happy with his progress this year, especially after the breeding season!
Coaching wise, I have been doing a lot of training camps with the Stuartholme girls, preparing them for Regional Champs in the first weekend in May, so those results also will come through next month!
See you in May!---
