We competed last weekend in the 25th World Cup Final in 's-Hertogenbosch Holland, where we finished up 10th of a field of fifteen. The field contained the cream of international riders representing all regions of the world, so it was a tough field. The show itself is a massive production and could be compared to Equitana, but about ten times bigger. My goal was to finish in the top ten, which I thought was achievable but made somewhat harder when I drew first out in both the Grand Prix and the Freestyle. Starting position is never good, especially in dressage when judges like to keep points up their sleeve in case something better comes along later in the night. Anyway, I was thrilled with Victory Salute and how he handled the atmosphere. The eyes of the world are on you in a pressure cooker type scenario, so there are a lot of things that could go wrong. Thankfully they didn't and we finished up 10th with 70.55%. Now I am home again to continue qualifying other horses for the big events here in Australia, and more importantly, I am home for the birth of our first baby due in May.
