2010 Aims:
- To prepare my two top horses for FEI starts in 2011 and hopefully have them at Advanced by the end of this year
- To compete Galanthus at National Dressage Champs, and all three horses at Qld State Champs
Is your area a noted horse district?
Samsonvale/Dayboro and the Samford Valley is fast becoming a horse district… a few warmblood studs are opening up, and a large amount of small acreage homesites are being developed for equestrian pursuits.
Breed(s)/Breeding (pedigree)/Breeder of horses:
Galanthus - by Gynastik Star, Hannovarian WB bred by Kinnordy
GL Latin Coda - is an Aust WB X bred by me, by Lontano
Special care and management considerations of your horse(s):
Galanthus is now a full grown performance stallion and now that he is training the advanced dressage movements his energy requirements have gone up, hence the addition of Energy Pak to his feed. I find this gives him that bit extra needed for the extra effort required, particularly in the lead up to, and also during, a major competition or clinic.
Name the most influential person(s) in your riding career:
Klaus Balkenhaul - the harmony between him and his horses is amazing!
Special highlight(s) in your riding career:
Gaining Pryde's sponorship and winning State Prelim Champs in '06 and Newcomer of the Year '06 with Dressage Qld.
Describe your first pony:
Off the track, undersized (14.2hh) TB Mare
Describe your riding history:
Started when 17 when I was accepted into UQ to study horse husbandry. Never looked back!
Do you have any hobbies/other interests?
4WDing, anything outdoors
Describe your most embarrassing moment (horsey):
No way!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you have any 'other' animals?
Dog: Hobo (who thinks he's human)
Cat: Billy (who thinks he's a dog)
Cockatoo: Jim
and school ponies
What are your ambitions?
To be the best rider and trainer I can possibly be, and to be a successful international competitor.
What do you require from your horse feed?
Cool, responsive energy - with certain horses
High energy - love Energy Pak for controlled feeding
Balanced minerals and vitamins - important with all, eliminating need for additives
Energy for work, without excess calories
Coat condition
No fuss breeding feeds
Specific young horse feeds - warmbloods in particular
Which Pryde's feeds do you use and why do you like them?
Use and recommend Pryde's:
- EasiResponse, Energy Pak and Gro Pak - for my competition horses
- BioMare Cubes - for my oldies, growing horses and broodmares
- EasiFeed 150 Pellets - for spelling horses, fat ponies, and those hot heads easing back into work...
