Katie Gorell - Eventing was cursed for a little while!

Toowoomba ODE was cancelled due too much rain on the Friday night prior to the event and they were looking at postponing but it turns out they can’t find a spare weekend, so all nominations will be partly refunded.

The following weekend the horses were entered for the ODE at Maryborough and we were able to complete this event from start to finish!

I rode Oscar, Eddy and Tom (Shannyn’s horse) in the Introductory class and Shannyn rode Sam in the Preliminary class.  Oscar and Eddy both finished the event on their dressage scores and placed 4th and 2nd respectively.  Eddy nearly topped 70% in his dressage test which is a huge achievement!  Both of the young horses jumped super all weekend.  Unfortunately, Tom had a silly run out on cross country and this left him 18th overall.  Shannyn and Sam placed 9th overall.

I took the two young horses to Burpengary ODE at the end of May and they excelled yet again.  Eddy competed in the Introductory class and once again finished on his dressage score.  He scored 69.91% in the dressage phase and jumped clear in both the cross country and the showjumping phases.  Eddy moved from 3rd after dressage to 1st overall.  I am chuffed he has finally had a win after placing second at the last couple of events!

Oscar had his first start in Preliminary and moved from 5th after dressage to place 2nd overall.  He jumped clear in both of the jumping phases and only added a few time penalties from cross country to his overall score.

Our next eventing comp will be at Fig Tree Pocket at the end of June and the plan is to take the team to either Caboolture Show or Toogoolawah Show to do some show jumping classes at the beginning of June.
