Elite Destiny has presence - regal presence. It’s no surprise she’s earned the title of queen of the stables and is, without question, Karen Crommelin’s horse in a million.
Karen purchased Destiny’s mother after finding her starving in a paddock, giving the mare a second chance and unknowingly setting the stage for something extraordinary.
Destiny, who goes by the stable name ‘Didi’ was the second foal born from that rescue. Karen remembers her being very small and black.
As an EA Level 2 Specialist Dressage Coach, FEI competitor, and long‑time breeder under her Elite Warmbloods prefix, Karen has produced many talented horses. But Destiny stood out the moment she was started under saddle.
“When I started riding her as a 5‑year‑old, two different international dressage trainers asked me why I was selling her,” Karen said. “I thought she was too small.”
Destiny quickly proved that size had nothing to do with talent.
“She is fearless and never says no,” Karen said.
It is these traits that carried the pair all the way to the Grand Prix arena. For a rider who had already partnered many horses, Destiny was something entirely new.
“She has immense trainability and generosity of spirit,” Karen explained. “She has taken me to Grand Prix in dressage when I was no spring chicken.”
From her earliest days, Destiny has been raised on Pryde’s EasiFeed.
“She has been raised and has run on Pryde’s feeds her whole life.
“First as a baby horse on BioMare Cubes and once under saddle - and still - on EasiResponse.”
A naturally easy keeper, Destiny thrives on the consistency of her nutrition. “I have to watch her weight,” Karen said.
Now entering her twilight years, Destiny remains firmly at the centre of Karen’s world.
“She will be with me forever.
“I owe her a huge debt for all the joy she has given me. I will do whatever it takes to make her twilight years what she deserves - which is the very best.”
For Karen, Destiny isn’t just a horse. She’s a partner, a teacher, and the embodiment of everything special about the horse-human bond.
